FAQ + Tips

Pamper yourself!
Lots of moms get mani/pedis in preparation for their sessions! I am all for it! BUT I recommend keeping polish colors soft and neutral. Hands and feet will be shown so if polish is grown out and you do not plan to repaint...please simply remove polish.
What should I wear?

If you are planning to borrow from the studio wardrobe, make sure to let me know sizes so I can have all the options ready for you. If we are meeting on location I am happy to bring options with me! I carry dresses, men's basic shirts, and options for baby/children. I also recommend skin tone undergarments. I suggest tan/grey pants/shorts for men and boys. Denim is fine as well. For studio sessions, no need to worry about shoes as I have you remove them. For outdoor sessions, please avoid running shoes (adults and kids). Nothing more distracting that a neon orange nike swish in your beautiful photos. Fashion sneakers are a great alternative. Here is an inspiration guide if you do plan to wear your own. Can grandparents join?
I know everyone is so excited for baby! While I am operating out of my home studio while looking for a new commercial space, only immediate family may attend sessions. The studio is on the smaller side and I want to make sure we capture beautiful images without distractions. If your spouse/partner is unable to attend, then one additional support person (like grandma) may join! If you have a unique situation and have additional support, lets chat!
NEWBORN SESSIONS
01.
MORNING OF.
STUDIO SESSION | Feel free to feed baby before leaving the house. That way they arrive sleepy with a full belly ready to go. If baby ever needs a break to eat, we will also pause. A full belly is a happy baby. I do ask that you dress baby in something that is easy to remove and does not go over their head. A zip/snap sleeper is a great option! So if baby is sleeping soundly, we are less likely to disturb them getting them updressed.
LIFESTYLE SESSION | Please feed baby prior to my arrival so they have a nice full belly. Open all blinds and curtains in the rooms that we plan to photograph in. We want as much natural light streaming in as we can get. Go ahead and turn off overhead lights. Please remove anything on tables/nightstands/dressers that you do not want photographed (ie water bottles, trash, medications, etc.)
Do i need to bring anything?

- If bottle feeding, please bring extras. We never want a hungry baby.
- Be sure to pack a paci if baby takes one.
What should baby wear?

STUDIO SESSION | For photos I always put a simple white diaper cover on baby. But I do ask that you dress baby in something that is easy to remove and does not go over their head. A zip/snap sleeper is a great option! So if baby is sleeping soundly, we are less likely to disturb them getting them updressed.
LIFESTYLE SESSION | A simple white onsie or sleeper is a great option. Be sure whatever you choose fits baby. There are many "newborn" sized options that are still pretty big in those early weeks. A well fitting outfit is more flattering that one where baby is swimming in it. I am happy to bring some onsies/sleepers with me as well.

Siblings...
STUDIO SESSION | Depending on age of siblings, adding a new baby can be a big life change for them. I am super patient with big brothers/sisters and will never force them to be in photos. Some are super into baby, some are still warming up and both situations are normal! I always encourage them to "help" and be involved. My style allows for more natural interactions so it makes it more comfortable and less pressure for those who are more shy. I know parents may want to include bribes/treats...I usually keep a stash of smarties just in case. They are small, no dyes, and easy to hide. Feel free to bring an iPad if they would like to watch a movie or show for moments they are not in the photos.
LIFESTYLE SESSION | Similar to studio sessions, I am super patient with big brothers/sisters and will never force then to be in photos. I always encourage them to "help" and be involved. My style allows for natural interactions so it makes it more comfortable and less pressure for those who are more shy.
Maternity sessions
01.
hydrate!
Drink plenty of water leading up to your session to hydrate your body. Make sure to moisturize your entire body that morning, including your feet. I recommend no spray tans/self tanners. BUT if you must, please have it applied a few days prior so it has time to set.
accessories
02.
Keep jewelry simple. And if wearing nail polish, choose soft tones/neutral colors. Your hands and feet will be visable.
Clothing?
03.
See above tips for what to wear. *I recommend wearing skin-toned undergarments if you are wearing a dress so we do not see the through the material.
STUDIO SESSIONS | For full sessions, we can do 1-3 outfits/looks. Let's chat about how we can style your session with dresses, intimate looks, or a combo of each. Petite sessions are allowed 1 outfit/look.
OUTDOOR SESSIONS | If wearing heels, I recommend bringing flats to wear while we walk and then change into heels for photos. Also keep in mind that we are most likely on grass so some heels may sink while walking.
