- Keep the Space Warm and Cozy
Newborns are happiest when warm, so I always ensure the studio is comfortably heated. Soft blankets, swaddles, and layers keep baby cozy and relaxed, helping them settle into natural poses effortlessly.
- Minimize Noise and Distractions
A quiet environment is essential. I ask parents to silence phones and limit interruptions. Soft background music or gentle white noise can help soothe the baby and create a serene mood that translates beautifully in photographs. Baby’s startle reflex is super strong in those early weeks, so we want baby to feel safe and secure.
- Use Soft, Natural Light
Bright, harsh lighting can startle newborns and make the session feel rushed. I prefer natural light for a soft, gentle, timeless look. The soft glow enhances skin tones and gives the images that ethereal, light-filled quality families love.
- Plan for Gentle Transitions
Feeding, diaper changes, and swaddling breaks are part of every session. I schedule sessions with plenty of buffer time so that each moment flows naturally, without stress for baby or parents.
- Comfortable, Inviting Spaces for Parents
A calm baby is often mirrored by calm parents. Having a cozy chair, blankets, or refreshments nearby keeps everyone relaxed. When parents are comfortable, their love and joy shine through in every photograph.
